The projects of sustainable use “are projects that include productive activities, that from and after the offer natural territory generate goods and services mercadeables and contribute to the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of ecosystems and agro-ecosystems, to the generation of social welfare, and the strengthening and diversification of the regional and local economy in a sustainable way” (MADS. 2015).

In the Association of Peasant co-Existing with the Condor, with the support of the Fundación Parque Jaime Duque, the National learning Service, the Industrial University of Santander, the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology, the PDP of the GEF, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and the Corporación Autónoma de Santander, we seek to establish a pilot program of sustainable production adapted to the conditions of the moor the Almorzadero, which will allow us to, through the linking of ancestral knowledge, the academy and appropriate technologies to improve the production processes developed in the lands that are linked to the process, providing tools to improve the quality of life of the family, their production systems and at the same time contribute to the conservation of this ecosystem, strategic, of its flora and fauna, in particular the Condor of the Andes.

This is why in our premises, we have chosen to have gardens where produce varieties of vegetables, vegetables and medicinal herbs to the consumption of the family. The seeds of the plants of the gardens are obtained through exchange with other members of the association. Vegetable production under greenhouse

As ACAMCO, the diversification of activities in search of build food sovereignty has allowed to implement strategies such as the production of vegetables and different species of family interest, under greenhouse conditions. WON OVINI-GOAT

As part of our transition to farming practices and more friendly to the environment, we have taken multiple actions to the tenure sustainable of our cattle. The breeding of sheep is a traditional activity of the moor and one of our main resources to provide the wool that becomes crafts. Some of the families also kept goats on their land for consumption and marketing. Previously, cattle were left free to graze throughout the wasteland. Since we assume the commitment to the ecosystem, we have adopted practices such as the semiestabulación of the cattle, the silvopastoral systems and the installation of cotes. These actions are in addition to improving the productivity of livestock, ensures your protection from predators by having places to keep the fry, and the conservation of soils, vegetation, and bodies of water to reduce their grazing area.

Production of silage for animal feed

Through the use of equipment acquired by the association, on the grounds linked to the process activities have been undertaken preparation of silage, the product is capable of supplying the program of feeding of cattle and sheep.
