More than 700 species of plants and animals living in the wasteland of the Almorzadero, such as the Andean condor, the puma, the hummingbird goat and more.
Water governs the wasteland of Almorzadero. The fog that crashes in the rocky mountains becomes small streams that give life to lakes and wetlands crystalline. With the help of the frailejones, are numerous rivers and streams which supply the inhabitants of the 19 municipalities of the santanderes and Boyacá.
In this place about 30 condors of the Andes, flying over the rocky mountains, the highest figure in all the mountains of Colombia. The water that guards the páramo del Almorzadero in their mountains, wetlands, mosses and frailejones, gives life to the important rivers of the region such as the Servitá, which then nourishes the Chicamocha.
